- What is your occupation?
I am a event designer and producer, as well as a open format DJ and Emcee.
- How did you get started?
I began providing music to small events in high school and then turned it into a production based entertainment company and began adding services and growing the business.
- What services do you offer?
We mainly offer event enhancements and event solutions including but not limited to A/V, Decor Lighting, Photobooths, DJ, Emcee, Party Supplies, Event Consulting and Design. We try to never say no to our clients wants and needs:)
- What are their clients typically looking for?
Our clients generally are looking for more than just music for their event. They are looking for one company to help them plan, design and execute their event and remove a lot of the time and stress that goes into planning a event.
- What skills are required to do the job?
Being Proactive is #1, Always having a plan B and plan C, Organization, common sense, Communication with all vendors and all people that are apart of the event.
- What do you like about the business?
Every day is a new challenge. Getting to see all the design and planning and our clients dreams and ideas come to life as well being there to help make someones most important day of their life extra special and awesome (when dealing with weddings)
- What they find most challenging?
Finding good help and people that are passionate about the business that give 110%
- What’s the biggest change they’ve seen in the business in the last 5 years?
Clients wanting more production and more moving parts into their event. (concert sound, lighting and video) Also with Pinterest becoming so mainstream it is very easy to share and see awesome ideas and concepts and taking things people do all over the world to a event in my area. Anything out of the box and untraditional is "cool" now.
- What are their plans for next year?
Continue to grow in what we do as well as improve our front end and back end processes. Also get into bigger more high budget events. Expand our new consulting side of the business with corporations and large charity events
- What opportunities do they see in Indiana?
Indianapolis is the conference capitol of the world. Indianapolis as a whole for a event company is just as great, if not better than the majority of major cities and conference cities (LA, Vegas, NY, Chicago Etc..) Indiana as a whole may not offer as much as some states, but the Indianapolis and surround area offers a great deal of very high quality work that make up for the rural areas that simply have no work and events.
- Any advice to people considering going into the music and entertainment business?
It isn't what you know, it is who you know. Networking is 50% of the business in my opinion. If you do good work it is generally easy to build loyalty with other event vendors and they will refer you time and time again because they enjoy working with you over other companies in the area providing what you provide.
- Any thing else they’d like to add?
Never treat the music and entertainment business as a hobby because you will get taken advantage of. There is always someone cheaper than you and more expensive than you. If a client decides not to work with you because of price, I have found it ends up being best for both parties. Never give up and always follow your dreams.
