MMP Newsletter - October 22, 2015

Added on by Robert Willey.

We received an invitation for students to attend Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn's show tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 23) at the Carmel Paladium / Center for Performing Arts. We'll be leaving campus at 3:00 pm, observing the sound check/rehearsal from 4:30–5:40, Q&A with the artists, dinner from 5:40–6:30, tour of the facility, and prime seats for the 8:00 p.m. show—all free. Fleck is one of the most interesting of today's musicians. He and his partner will be playing a show at Minnetrista in Muncie June 25th, so mark your calendar for that, too, but you won't have the same sort of V.I.P. access. If you'd like to be one of the five to go on the van  tomorrow, please let Dr. Willey know <> and include your phone number to confirm since this is short notice. Indicate if you're in MMP330 (Live Sound) in case we can't accommodate everyone.

Dr. Thompson organized a successful online masterclass yesterday with producer Larry Fricke live from Germany. The MMP430 class was in Studio 2 while additional students watched from Soundhouse C. Stay tuned for more in this series of guest lectures. [ scrollable 360° photo ]

Remember to sign up for the bus for Career Day at Sweetwater on Friday, November 6. See the last issue of the newsletter for details. See Dr. Willey if you need a letter for your teacher so you won't be penalized for missing class.

A concert with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis has been announced for the Ball State campus on February 3, 2016. Student tickets are $10/$15.

Want to improve your production skills? Consider taking on one of the 4 pending  requests from the community for recording sessions in the MMP studios.
