Kevin Ray coming to campus Wednesday
Kevin Ray, BSU alumnus and bass player in Walk the Moon, will be speaking this Wednesday (April 20) from 3:30–5:00 p.m. in Letterman Building 125. Bring your questions about what music technology students should do to build their skills, and what it takes to succeed as a touring musician.
Here is a release form if you need to get out of class to attend.
Ball State and Beyond: International Student Computer Music Concert
The first (annual?) International Student Computer Music Concert will take place on Wednesday, April 20 in Soundhouse C (MI 216) from 5:30–6:30 p.m. The concert is being produced by Dr. Willey's MMP 121 class and features selections from Stephen Weigel and Lucas Baughman from BSU, along with others representative of Keele University (England), Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), University of Florida, and Indiana University.
Mike Tabor, Outstanding Student Employee of the Year
Last Friday MMP student Mike Tabor was awarded the 2015-16 Outstanding Student Employee of the Year award in a ceremony in the Letterman Building. Mike is one of the student engineers for Central Recording Services, the organization that records concerts and handles live sound duties in Sursa Hall. Ethan Hardwick was also nominated for the award for his work at The Scene.
Sign up for Classes
If you haven't already done so, now's the time to sign up for summer and fall classes. MMP 330 (Live Sound and Recording) is full, but there is a waiting list. The class is normally taken by juniors, and is only offered in the fall.
Remember to contact the professor of the class if the enrollment system informs you that special permission is needed.
Sursa Backstage is hiring for summer. Students are needed for students who will be in the area over the summer to work performances and rehearsals. You must be enrolled in either (or both) summer or fall classes. Contact Michael Majors in MI 107 or email SursaHall@bsu.edu.
Dr. Willey will be offering a summer camp on July 11–13 in Studio 9 for high school students wanting to learn the basics of recording, editing and mixing using Studio One. A student assistant may be necessary depending on enrollment. Please let high school students know about the camp and tell Dr. Willey if you are interested in being an assistant.
