SONY Recording Artist on Campus on Monday

Music video by Michelle Treacy performing Armageddon. (C) 2016 Legend North under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment

Mark Liggett, the producer who we worked with last spring break for the pilot episode of THE SONG is bringing Michelle Treacy to record a vocal track for "I Blame Me" in Studio One on Monday, Sept. 19. Michelle is one of the artists that work with his production company Legend Entertainment Corp. Liggett is hoping to achieve the same great vocal sound that Dr. Thompson and the students got for Jerzey Jung and the other vocalists for THE SONG. Dr. Thompson will be engineering the vocal session on Monday, assisted by Mike Tabor, David Rohrer, Kaitlyn Delle Donne, and Alex Rodriguez.

Producer Mark Liggett

The track is expected to be released by SONY on Michelle's next CD early in the second quarter of 2017. Mark and Michelle have 8 tracks finished so far and still need to record the final 4 that she is writing. Her song "Armageddon" is currently #19 on Billboard's Canadian Top 40 chart. The plan is to release it in the U.S. after it's moved up.

Mark and Michelle will be available after the vocal recording session to talk with students about songwriting and the record business. It is expected to end between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. You can wait in the MMP area or contact Dr. Willey if you would like to receive an email or include your phone number if you prefer to receive a text message in order to join us afterwards at the Pita Pit in The Village.

Music Needed for Animation Reels

The Animation Department is looking for music for demo reels of new student projects. You'll get a credit and be able to add it to your portfolio. Here are some examples of past reels:

They would like a 10-sec intro/buildup, sections of 30-sec, and a 10-sec ending that they can edit together with the animations. Contact Drs. Willey or Pounds if you're interested.

Updated Studio Manual

Jeff Seitz has given the MMP Studio Manual a fresh coat of paint. He is updating and transferring the old manual to a new School of Music server that will be responsive and give you the best experience, whether you access it on a computer or phone. Update your bookmarks and check it out at:
