Getting Recorded

Please indicate your interest in being recorded on our recording request site. Our goal is to have 300 sessions this year with students, ensembles, and faculty. Please consider making an appointment to bring your group over when they have material ready to record. Sessions typically last 2-3 hours, but larger projects may also be accommodated. Christoph Thomspon will be recording some faculty projects and other high profile sessions.

We have been working for the last two years to ease the copyright issues around recordings made in the School of Music. It has been the University's position that recordings made in the MMP facilities belong to the University, while the ownership of the copyright of the composition itself remains with the composer.

There are hopeful signs that an easing of the policy may finally happen. In the meantime our contacts are going to consider proposals on a case-by-case basis and try to help students and faculty keep the rights to their recordings. To start the request process fill out the Intellectual Property Disclosure Form and send to Robert Willey (MI 211). He will keep track of how many requests are in the pipeline and forward them to the Sponsored Projects Administration for approval.
